1. By ordinary
a. Verbal
Kalimat yang verb ordinary-nya bukan anggota be
Contoh: I study grammar
b. Non verbal
Kalimat yang verb ordinary-nya anggota be (is, am, are, was, were, been, being)
Contoh:
- Pian was silent enough
- Titin has been a good wife
2. By structure
a. Declarative sentence (kalimat pernyataan)
Kinds: Positive (S V) dan negative (S V not)
Contoh:
- Mira will sleep
- Mira will not sleep
b. Interrogative sentence (Kalimat Tanya)
Kinds:
- Yes/no question
Pola (+) V S ? ------- Will Mira sleep?
Pola (-) V S not? ---- Will Mira not sleep?
- Information question
Pola (+) Qw V S ?-------- What are you doing?
Pola (-) Qw V S not ?----- What are you not doing?
c. Imperative sentence (command/request/perintah)
Kinds:
- (+) V (bi)./! ---------------- Open the door!
- (-) Don’t V (bi)./! --------Don’t open the door!
